Tecnopackaging is a technology-based Small-Medium Enterprise (SME) founded in 2010 as a spin-off of AITIIP Technology Centre located in Zaragoza, involved in the development of innovative plastic materials and products. We count with the skills, technologies and experience for providing customers a comprehensive design of new products, from concept to prototype, validation and development of the first series. Tecnopackaging´s main purpose is to conduct R&D on advanced polymeric materials and their transformation processes for industrial plastic applications, targeting companies which operate directly or indirectly in the agri-food and other industrial sectors such as automotive, construction, biomedical and aeronautical. The core of the company is the development of new nanoadditivated, biodegradable, and antimicrobial (bio)materials and products with technological equipment for processing plastics, including extrusion-compounding, injection, extrusion blow molding, thermoforming, and film-blowing. In addition, we can also develop various services like material characterization, business plan definition, and scientific dissemination.
Role in ReLEAF
TECNO’s main objective within RELEAF is to develop and optimize biodegradable bioplastics with targeted functionalities for agricultural applications. For this purpose, TECNO will:
- Encapsulate additives (antimicrobials, struvite fertilizers, etc.) for controlled release in the final product.
- Formulate and optimize blends of PHA with biopolymers (BioPBS or starch) incorporating the encapsulated additives.
- Refine processing conditions for injection molding (pots) and film blowing (mulching).
- Fabricate bioplastic prototypes using optimized processing conditions.
- Evaluate biodegradability of prototypes in simulated soil conditions.
