Fertilizer production sites
After lab-scale optimization and production, novel formulations, secondary raw material handling, and production parameters will be validated at a pre-industrial scale by TIMAC and TECNO.
TIMAC AGRO, Italy
TIMAC, the Italian branch of Groupe Roullier, is a global leader in plant, animal, and human nutrition, with a production capacity of 80,000 tonnes/year. They produce and market 25 families of fertilizers, including ENERGEO, a novel range of complex granular fertilizers based on circular economy principles for both conventional and organic farming. Through the ReLEAF project, TIMAC will produce up to 1 tonne of growth-stage targeted bio-based fertilizers (BBFs) at a pilot plant scale.
Tecnopackaging, Spain
TECNO, a specialized SME, focuses on circular-by-design plastic solutions, including recycling, reusing, and functionalization. They have extensive experience in developing tailored plastic solutions from concept to industrial production, particularly in biopolymers for agriculture. TECNO has produced commercial batches of biodegradable mulching films and pre-commercial biodegradable pots for Spanish agricultural cooperatives. In the ReLEAF project, TECNO will scale up production to create: 500 kg of pelletized biostimulant, 100 kg of micro-encapsulated bio-based fertilizers (BBFs), 1,000 meters of fertilizer-functionalized mulching films, and 1,000 units of fertilizer-functionalized planting pots.
