In December, ReLEAF project partner Alchemia-nova organised a hands-on citizen science workshop on sustainable agriculture, soil health, and circular food systems at Kleine Stadt Farm in Vienna. The event was brought together participants from the general public, including students, lecturers, and urban gardeners.
The workshop introduced participants to key concepts of sustainable and regenerative agriculture, with a focus on how locally generated bio-waste can be reused to support circular food systems. The ReLEAF team presented the project’s objectives and showcased the bioreactor that will be used to support the production of bio-based fertilisers and biostimulants within ReLEAF. This system is planned to be tested at Kleine Stadt Farm in 2026.

Participants then joined a guided farm tour, where they explored the greenhouse, composting facilities, and on-site organic waste processing. The visit highlighted how different organic materials are combined and transformed into valuable resources. The programme also included visits to circular initiatives based at the farm, such as Hut & Stiel and Wurmkiste, offering concrete examples of circular business models in practice.
The workshop concluded with a shared meal prepared by Café Schillwasser using produce from the farm, showcasing the link between local production, circular practices, and sustainable consumption.
