On 17 December 2025, the second ReLEAF Citizen Science Workshop took place at the Tecnopackaging Innovation Hub in Zaragoza, Spain. The event brought together second-year higher-grade students of Mechanical Manufacturing Design from I.E.S. Virgen del Pilar, aged between 20 and 27, for an interactive session exploring innovation in sustainable agriculture.
The workshop introduced students to the objectives of the project, highlighting its technologies, consortium partners, and overall mission to support more sustainable and circular food systems. Through presentations and discussions, participants gained insights into how research and innovation can contribute to more sustainable production practices.

During the session, project demonstrators were presented, giving students a tangible view of the technologies being developed within the project. The discussion covered several key topics, including the principles of the circular economy, the benefits of biofertilisers compared with conventional mineral fertilisers, and the development of sustainable biomaterials.

To conclude the workshop, students participated in a Kahoot! quiz titled “Innovations in Sustainable Agriculture”, designed to reinforce the concepts introduced during the session. Engagement was high, with students achieving an impressive overall accuracy rate of 87.5%. The results reflected a strong understanding of the topics discussed and demonstrated the effectiveness of the interactive format.
The workshop highlighted the value of citizen science activities in connecting students with emerging research and encouraging dialogue around sustainable solutions for the future of agriculture.
